Sustainability
At Deco Trove, we believe design is more than just a visual art—it’s a way to shape a better world. Our commitment to sustainability means considering not only how our products look and function but also their environmental impact. When you purchase our vintage and restored items, you’re helping preserve history, conserve valuable resources, and extend the lifespan of beautifully crafted designs from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s.
Materials
We are committed to blending historical design with modern, sustainable practices. Our ART LITE mini™ series of 3D-printed lamps are thoughtfully crafted with longevity and everyday usability in mind, designed to seamlessly integrate into daily life while remaining visually striking, functional, and durable over time.
To achieve this, we primarily use PLA (polylactic acid), a biodegradable, plant-based thermoplastic derived from renewable resources like cornstarch and sugarcane. Unlike traditional petroleum-based plastics, PLA offers a more environmentally friendly alternative, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing our carbon footprint.
In addition to PLA, we also utilize PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol), a resilient material known for its strength, impact resistance, and ability to withstand years of regular use. When properly processed, PETG is also highly recyclable, allowing it to be reformed into new products at the end of its lifecycle—helping to reduce waste and support a circular economy.
While our focus is on faithfully recreating iconic Art Deco lighting in miniature form, we also strive to do so responsibly, ensuring that our production methods align with sustainability goals. By choosing both PLA and PETG, we embrace innovation not only in design but also in creating a more eco-conscious approach to decorative lighting—offering products that are built to last while being mindful of their environmental impact.
LED Lighting
We prioritize energy efficiency by exclusively using LED bulbs in our restored and 3D-printed lamps. LEDs consume far less electricity than traditional bulbs, produce minimal heat, and have a much longer lifespan, making them an environmentally responsible choice that aligns with our commitment to sustainability. The reduced heat output not only conserves energy but also protects vintage lamp materials, further extending their lifespan. We encourage our customers to use LED lighting in all Deco Trove products, including restored vintage pieces, to enhance efficiency while reducing environmental impact. Through outreach efforts like customer education and providing LED-compatible components, we aim to empower our customers to make lighting choices that support a greener, more sustainable future.
Packaging & Shipping
Our shipping approach prioritizes reducing, reusing, and recycling. We use recyclable cardboard boxes and primarily recycled paper for packing materials. To further minimize environmental impact, we carefully source right-sized boxes for each product, reducing excess packaging and lowering fuel emissions during transport. Although we currently use a minimal amount of plastic bubble wrap, we’re transitioning in 2025 to fully recyclable paper for wrapping all products. This shift reflects our dedication to minimizing waste and delivering our products responsibly to you.
